Grammatical or typographical errors are almost certain to divert the reader away from the persuasion of your message. What is the cost of finding an error after sign-off? Checking your own words is the least-reliable way to prevent errors. When you are familiar with the content, you "see" what you expect, rather than what is actually printed or displayed. Having your words checked independently helps to remove that uncertainty, provides an "outsider's" view, and is a cost-efficient way of managing your words. Are you using words to best effect?
